Department responded to a total of 1,925 calls for service during April 2025. The department filled a total of 41 open records requests from citizens and the District Attorney’s Office. A total of 555 citations were issued. The East Ridge Police Department made a total of 82 physical arrests that included 96 misdemeanor charges and 50 felony charges. The Detective Division routinely networks with other law enforcement agencies in sharing intelligence affecting the region. Detective Hawks, as part of the USMS Fugitive Task Force, has assisted in the search and/or apprehensions of four (4) individuals wanted for a variety of criminal charges to include the following: • Kidnapping • Attempted First Degree Murder • Criminal Court Warrants and Attempted First-Degree Murder • Violation 14 CUMULATIVE CRIME SUPPRESSION (CSU) STATS: Self-Initiated Arrests - MIS 0 CSU NOTE: CSU has been developing intelligence and has shared it with cooperating agencies to ultimately combat various Self-Initiated Arrests - FEL 2 types of criminal activity within the city. CSU is continuing to Warrant Service - MIS 1 conduct follow-up investigations on a variety of cases to include Warrant Service - FEL 8 narcotics, fugitive, and vice-related offenses. CSU has taken a Drug Seizures 2 very proactive approach to initiating and clearing several good drug-related cases. CSU continues to make relevant transactions Firearms Seizures 1 with the CPD-NIBIN unit to establish a more proactive approach Assets Seizures 0 to gun-related criminal activity. Fire Administration • Staff has Scheduled fire inspections and training for each shift. • Staff attended all Elementary schools and read to the children; this was scheduled in March. • Staff completed all in-service training as required by the State of Tennessee. This training began in March and was completed in April. • Staff scheduled swift water training I and II for members recertification. • Staff scheduled training at the state fire academy and Pigeon Forge for fire related classes. • Staff continue to work with five of our firefighters in an engineer pump class. Four of these members will be promoted to Firefighter/Engineer status soon. • Staff have been in contact with the contractor who will make repairs to the building at Station One. We have been told that this will start on June 2, 2025. • Staff have been working with vendors that have upcoming events in the park. Some of these are the Taco Festival, the Bacon Festival, the Apple Festival, and ANF (All or Nothing Fights). The Fire Department will have crews establish a unified command post for the larger events to handle any incidents such as monitoring weather, medical needs, security needs, and any other potential hazards. • Staff attended Tri State Mutual Aid meetings. • The Baby Box project has been completed. We are now waiting on the building repairs before the box goes into service. This has been discussed with the City Manager, and we agree that the repairs need to be completed on the building before having the blessing of the Baby Box. • Cancer testing has been completed on all career members. • Staff conducted interviews for three open firefighter positions. Three new members were hired and have started work. Two of these three were volunteers with our department. 23 • Staff will receive 12 Ballistic vests after Council approves the 2025 Homeland Security Grant from Hamilton County. These vests are to be placed on our first out responding apparatus for active shooter situations. • Employee Performance Evaluations were completed for the members in April. • Staff completed flowing all hydrants in the city. This is done twice a year. Training Each shift completes a minimum of two hours of training each shift. Training topics included: 1. Fire Service: SCBA Evolution and Respiratory Protection Policy. (2\hour minimum). 2. Fire Service: Incident Command System, Ref. Essentials 7 Ch. 27. (2/hour minimum). 3. Rescue: Air Tools, Equipment Familiarization, Maintenance, and Use. (2/hour minimum). 4. Fire Service: Firefighter Safety, Ref. Essentials 7 Ch. 1. (2\hour minimum). 5. Driver Training: District Review; Streets, Hydrants\FDC, and Pre-Plans\Inspection. (2\hour minimum). 6. Driver Training: Pump Operations, Relay Pumping\Tender Operations. (2/hour minimum). 7. Fire Service: Communications, Ref. Essentials 7 Ch. 2. (2/hour minimum). 8. EMS: Ref. Three members graduated from Fire 1 Class at Tri Community Rookie School and have 2 members will graduate Fire 1 in May at the Hamilton County Rookie School. Two members attended an advanced vehicle extrication class. Two members attended a high angle rope class. Maintenance • Purchased a new generator for Squad two. • Purchased new helmets for the graduating members from rookie schools. • Repaired five SCBA (Air Packs) and one SCBA RIT Pack (Rapid intervention team) • Squad two transmission line repaired • Squad One generator repaired • Squad One Radiator hose repaired and replaced clamps.
