The department filled a total of 36 open records requests from citizens and the District Attorney’s Office. A total of 476 citations were issued from 525 traffic stops. The East Ridge Police Department made a total of 64 physical arrests that included 68 misdemeanor charges and 23 felony charges. The East Ridge Police Department answered 2 calls within the City of Ridgeside and conducted daily self-initiated activities (directed patrols, park and walks, etc.). Fire Administration • Scheduled fire inspections and training for each shift. • Staff ended the dual response with Chattanooga Fire. This dual response was due to the construction on I-75 and I-24 interstates. Since the bridges and interstates with the City have been finished, both departments agreed that a dual response was no longer needed. • Duty crews have been working on props for the fire in-service training for March. These props include building search and rescue operations and fire rescue inside McBrien Elementary School. • Staff attended several weather-related meetings at Hamilton County Emergency Operations Center. • Staff attended the grand opening at Whataburger. • Staff attended City Council meetings. • Staff met with the first round of candidates for the City Manager position and attended the special called meeting for the candidates to be interviewed by the City Council. • Staff have been working on a new ordinance for false fire alarms. The City Attorney, Assistant Fire Marshal, and Fire Chief will bring the proposed ordinance before Council in February 2026. Training Each shift completed a minimum of two hours of training per shift throughout the month of January. Training sessions covered a variety of operational, technical, and safety topics across multiple disciplines. Below is a summary of the training areas completed: 1. Parks and Recreation • Installed a pump in the splash pad for the winter to prevent rainwater from filling the holding tank. • Rebuilt the flush valve on one of the toilets in the men’s stadium restroom at Camp Jordan. • Began planning the location for the new dumpster pad for the Community Center. Fire Department • Changed all five door access combinations at Fire Hall 1 and Fire Hall 2. Police Department • Installed a chair mat under the Records Clerk’s desk at the Police Department to prevent the chair from catching on the floor. 26 Animal Services • Disassembled the dishwasher at the Animal Shelter, confirmed the drain line was not clogged, and scheduled an appliance repair technician to investigate the drainage issue. • Scheduled Bailey’s to inspect the heating and air system at the Animal Shelter on February 2, 2026. OPERATIONS & BOOKINGS: • Venue 1921 has received hundreds of event inquiries since launch. • Staff are actively redirecting smaller or incompatible events to the East Ridge Community Center, particularly for dates after the renovation of the Community Center is complete. • Camp Jordan has been directing events to the Venue as well, so the partnership of keeping all the events we can in the City is working. • Early booking activity highlights the need for flexible event spaces in East Ridge. STAFFING & COMMUNITY IMPACT: Jarinzi Alonzo Serrano was hired in January at the Venue Assistant. Jarinzi is a graduate of East Ridge High School, Class of 2025, with a strong record of leadership and community involvement, including: • S6 Communications Officer I JROTC • Cheer Captain • Vice President of Student Council Jarinzi brings a deep connection to the City of East Ridge, along with a strong work ethic and commitment to community service that staff are excited to continue developing. East Ridge Fire Department and East Ridge Police Department have shown up to learn the building and lend their support. The City Library offered children’s programming at the Grand Opening event in February and City Attorney Mark Litchford has been such an asset as well. This property has been touched by nearly every City department, and their teamwork and willingness to step up made the opening of Venue 1921 at East Ridge possible. Shawnna Skiles, Michelle Sinigaglio and Cameron McAllister have poured their heart into this building and cannot be celebrated enough.
