Secondary Essential Practices Facilitator Adrianne Cole, Science/Instructional Tech Coach Audience Secondary content area departments / teachers (mathematics, science, social studies, ELA, and others) Implementing the Disciplinary Literacy Essentials across All Content Areas As students continue to develop their literacy skills throughout middle and high school, literacy instruction must also help them meet increasingly complex subject area demands such as critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills. Exploring and implementing the Disciplinary Literacy Essentials supports students as they think and communicate in ways that are valued in mathematics, science, social studies, the English language arts, and other secondary content areas.
