Beckett Park Updates Include Walking Track, More Parking
West Chester Township celebrated the opening of eight new fenced pickleball courts at Beckett Park East today with a ribbon cutting and community celebration.
The courts are part of a $6.5 million renovation, supported by tax increment financing (TIF) funds, that will add new amenities and upgrade existing infrastructure on both sides of Beckett Park. Completed improvements at Beckett Park East include the eight new pickleball courts, a quarter-mile paved walking track, shade structures, expanded parking, and a bottle refill and dog watering station.
“These new pickleball courts and the expanded walking trail reflect what residents told us they wanted most in our recent community survey,” said Ann Becker, Chair of the Board of Township Trustees. “We have been deliberate about investing in high-quality amenities that serve our residents and help attract businesses to West Chester. These improvements support local economic development and represent a responsible use of taxpayer resources, delivering lasting value with minimal long-term maintenance costs.”
The second phase of the project is underway to build a large, inclusive playground next to the existing splash park on the west side of the park. The playground will feature separate play areas for children ages 3–5 and 5–12, as well as plenty of climbing features and a zipline. Additional improvements will include expanded parking and a larger restroom and shelter area, with fencing and a seating wall separating the new features from the fishing ponds.
“Quality parks help attract young professionals and families to our community,” said Lee Wong, West Chester Township Trustee. “People want to move to West Chester and put down roots here because we have beautiful places to enjoy nature, exercise, and come together as a community.”
