Happy New Year West Chester! The start of each new year is an opportunity to reflect on the previous year and set goals for the year that lies ahead.
It was a busy 2024 for our office. Community Development processed 1,004 permit applications in the first full year for online permitting. Customers can now submit applications at their convenience. Applications can be submitted from your home in your pajama pants while eating the leftover fruitcake and cheese. That’s a win.
Online permit applications were such a success, that Community Development launched another new online program on January 1, 2025. You can now submit property maintenance complaints online, at any time, for our Property Advisors to investigate. It is our goal to continue to improve services for you. By putting more of our services online, we hope it makes our team more accessible and convenient.

Your resource to know this quarter is our Zoning Resolution Update: https://www.westchesteroh.org/government/general-government/zoning-code-updates. West Chester is updating its Zoning Resolution and public input is sought. For a breakdown of the proposed changes, plan to attend a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 30th in Township Hall at 9113 Cincinnati Dayton Road.
Michelle Cone has joined West Chester as Economic Development Manager. Michelle has been out getting to know the community and she is ready to meet you, so drop her a line at mcone@westchesteroh.org. I may be trading off “Keeping up with Katy K” with her from time to time, so send her some column title ideas. I like “Michelle’s Construction Cone Corner,” but we would love your creative input. Michelle is great, and I can’t wait for you to get to know her.
