West Chester Police send patrol cars to Carolina

West Chester Police Department is shipping five used police cruisers to four North Carolina police departments hit by Hurricane Helene.

Donated patrol cars will be utilized by the Black Mountain Police Department, Montreat Police Department, Old Fort Police Department and Spruce Pine Police Department while their limited agencies await replacement vehicles. Time to order and rebuild cruisers is estimated at more than a year.

The vehicles were loaded on trailers late Wednesday afternoon and a caravan left West Chester, Ohio early Friday morning to make the 6 and a half hour road trip. West Chester Police thanked the local FOP as well as local businesses The Trailer Guy of Cincy and EZCarSale.com for their support in making this project happen.

West Chester Police replaced the high mileage surplus vehicles with new vehicles earlier this year. Each police interceptor ranged between 7 and 10 years old with a value of less than $2,500. The West Chester Board of Trustees approved the donation at the November 19, 2024 regular meeting.

Before the trip, Team West Chester employees collected donations of warm winter outerwear in order to fill the vehicles with coats, hats, and gloves. You can follow the progress and delivery on the West Chester Township – Government Facebook page.
