Accessibility
Weave wants everyone to be able to read its stories, find the Weaver Awards near them, and reach the team. weavers.org is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What that means on this site
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, and the focus outline shows where you are.
- Text and controls meet the AA contrast levels, and color is never the only signal: each of Weave’s four threads is named in words wherever its color appears.
- Photographs that carry meaning have text descriptions, and pictures of text are written out. The BIG READ reading schedule is a table, and every National BIG READ Partner is named.
- The Weaver Awards map lists all 25 communities in text, and the ZIP code search works without the map.
- Pages reflow to a narrow phone screen without sideways scrolling.
- Where each photograph came from is listed on the photo credits page.
- Dates for events update to the day you read the page, so nothing past is listed as coming up.
Pages Weave does not run here
The Weaving Us community, the Weaver Awards sites, the Social Trust Map, registration and sign-up forms, and videos are hosted by other services, which have their own accessibility. Some PDFs, such as the Rooted & Rising essays, are published as Weave received them. If you need a document in another format, ask and Weave will help.
