Topping Ceremony Held for Rex Henry Ogle Courts Building

Sevier County, Tennessee (December 9, 2024) – On Thursday, December 5th, Sevier County hosted a Topping Ceremony for the Rex Henry Ogle Courts Building, marking a significant milestone in the construction of this key project.

A longstanding tradition, a topping ceremony commemorates the placement of the final structural beam or the highest point of a building. Often adorned with a tree or flag, it symbolizes progress and good fortune for the future occupants.

During the ceremony, Sevier County Mayor Larry Waters announced that the project remains on budget and on schedule.

“The Rex Henry Ogle Courts Building represents our commitment to serving the people of Sevier County,” said Sevier County Mayor Larry Waters. “This milestone is a testament to the dedication of everyone involved in this project, and we are excited to see it come to fruition.”

“We’re grateful for the dedication of the hardworking men and women making this project a reality,” said Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter. “The Rex Henry Ogle Courts Building will be a vital addition to our community, and we’re excited about the positive impact it will have for years to come.”

The ceremony was attended by State Representatives, County officials, Commissioners, judges, and other community leaders. Following the event, attendees were invited to take a walking tour of the construction site, offering a closer look at the progress of the new building.

The Rex Henry Ogle Courts Building is scheduled for completion in November 2025.
