Artsy Bike Rack

DESCRIPTION: The Saugatuck-Douglas Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has proposed installing an artistic bike rack in the City. CVB Executive Director, Lisa Mize, approached Saugatuck Public Schools about involving students in the design and fabrication. One student has designed the attached pallet sign style bike rack. The CVB and staff are seeking Council feedback on the design. The current plan is for the bike rack to be installed in the southwest corner of Village Square. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Location and design will also be reviewed with the Parks and Public Works Committee for a recommendation. The Historic District Commission will also have to approve. BUDGET ACTION REQUIRED: None anticipated. If needed, the current budget has dollars to cover the cost of concrete. LEGAL REVIEW: N/A at this time. SAMPLE MOTION: Motion to approve the palette sign concept for the artsy bike rack.
