Regarding the pedestrian walkway easement that runs through the west side of my property, I see no reason at all that there should be any signage or lighting referencing said walkway. The easement was adopted by the City in November 1993 and has been in existence since that time with no illumination nor signage. There are very few sidewalks on the hill and pedestrians use the streets for walking. No signage exists anywhere to indicate pedestrians in the streets including by the school. I would hope that the City would not choose to spend tax payer money to add signage that serves no purpose indicating there is the potential for pedestrians (particularly in a location where there are few). Thank you very much for your attention to this matter. Jim Sellman Saugatuck

The CITY OF SAUGATUCK is accepting applications for appointment to the Parking Improvements Task Force: The Saugatuck City Council has identified parking as a multi-year strategic priority for fiscal years 2025–2026. In response, the City is forming an advisory Parking Improvements Task Force to evaluate and recommend solutions to parking demands in the community. The purpose of the Parking Improvements Task Force is to identify and prioritize current parkingrelated concerns, issues, opportunities, and objectives held by residents, business and property owners, public safety officials, schools, and other community stakeholders. The Task Force will gather data and insights related to parking, including but not limited to: current and historical data on parking usage, availability, enforcement practices, turnover rates, seasonal impacts, and employee parking patterns. To support the Parking Improvements Task Force, a consultant will be hired to assist in identifying key issues, gathering community input, and conducting a comprehensive parking inventory east of the river (and possibly beyond). The consultant will also perform a parking needs analysis and assist the Task Force in evaluating options for improvement. The process of forming the Task Force and selecting a consultant is expected to take 2–3 months. Once established, the Task Force and consultant will work over an estimated 9–12 month period to develop actionable recommendations to deliver to the City Council. The meetings will be scheduled at least once a month and the anticipated time will be in the late afternoon. The makeup of the Parking Improvements Task Force will represent different stakeholders within the community including: 1. One member from City Council (1); 2. One member from the Planning Commission (1); 3. One member who is a city resident (non-business owner) (1); 4. One member who is a restaurant owner (1); 5. One member who is a retail business owner (1); 6. One Convention and Visitors Bureau Representative (1); 7. One Interurban Representative (1); Applications are due by 5 p.m. on August 15th and can be completed online or in person at Saugatuck City Hall. Please include which seat you are applying for. Jamie Wolters City Clerk Dated: 7/25/28
