A Farm Advisors meeting at the Cheesewright farm

Thanks to Kelly Cheesewright and Keaton Cheesewright for hosting yesterday’s Farm Advisors meeting! Mentors and mentees connected at their Vermillion County farm for conversations on regenerative agriculture.
A farm tour highlighted the Cheesewright’s organic corn and soybeans. Kelly shared insights in the midst of a corn field, breaking open ears and highlighting plant growth. Keaton pulled a plant from a soybean field for observations on root structure.
Back in the farm shop, Josh Cox of Wildcat Valley Farms in Lafayette encouraged the group to think outside the box when planning for farm diversification. He brought beef snack sticks for sampling.
The hosts and speakers at the front of the room weren’t the only ones sharing ideas. Throughout the day, conversations on equipment, nutrient management, and more sprang up across the shop and fields.
A Farm Advisors meeting isn’t just about visiting an innovative farm or hearing from thought-provoking speakers. Because those spur-of-the-moment conversations offer so much value, each meeting is designed to include time for sharing ideas and learning from other attendees.
If you’re in Indiana, you can be part of this farmer-led program connecting mentees with a network of mentors providing practical advice and personalized guidance to boost farm profitability, sustainability, and resilience. Send us a message for more information!
