  • Below are the guidelines that we look at for determining cancelation of an adult walking or hiking program:
  • Heat: A real feel or actual temperature of 100°F or higher forecasted during any point of the program.
  • Cold: A real feel or actual temperature of 15°F or lower forecasted during any point of the program.
  • Wind: For programs in the woods or near large numbers of trees, we will cancel for wind advisories or higher (sustained winds over 30 mph or any forecasted gusts over 45 mph) during a program.
  • Rain: Forecasted prolonged rain (heavier than a drizzle) for a large portion of the program.
  • Lightning/Thunder: Forecasted thunderstorm risk during the program. If thunder is heard or lightning spotted during the program, the walk or hike ends at that time.
  • We make cancellation calls for walking and hiking programs about 1 to 1.5 hours before start time using the best info available.
