Tribal Education Alliance advances the Tribal Remedy Framework, a plan developed and continuously refined by tribal leaders, tribal educators, and Indigenous education experts to secure equitable, culturally relevant public education for Native students across New Mexico’s 23 Nations, Tribes, and Pueblos. The organization emerged from tribal advocacy efforts dating to around 2016 and works in the context of the 2018 Yazzie/Martinez court ruling, which found the state’s education system failed at-risk students including Native American students and ordered systemic reforms. Its activities include publishing policy analysis, tracking tribal resolutions and endorsements, documenting proposals and legislative developments, and pushing for measures such as a Tribal Education Trust Fund.
