County to Mark 25th Anniversary of September 11 with Ringing of 1896 Bell
Sevier County will mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, with the ringing of the historic 1896 bell atop the historic Sevier County Courthouse.
Throughout the morning of Friday, September 11, the Courthouse bell will ring at 8:46 AM, 9:03 AM, 9:37 AM and 10:03 AM, marking the times the North Tower, South Tower, Pentagon and Flight 93 were struck during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
The annual ringing of the bell provides an opportunity for the Sevier County community to pause and remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives that day, as well as the families, friends, and communities forever changed by the tragedy.
Twenty-five years later, Sevier County joins communities across the nation in remembering those who were lost and honoring the enduring spirit of those who responded and served.
