Concept A is working on further refinements and developing a presentation for Council. We are planning on the committee recommendation being presented at an August workshop meeting.

Lead Service Lines • The City has 203 known lead, 198 galvanized previously connected to lead, and 229 unknown material service lines. • Through the Maple Street and Elizabeth Street projects, several lead and galvanized service lines are being replaced. • We have been evaluating additional funding to replace the remaining eligible service lines and have applied for $1,690,000 through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Lead Service Line Replacement Program. Based on the initial scoring, the City was just outside the current funding range. However, we have been talking with EGLE about additional points we are eligible for that we hope will place us in the fundable range. If awarded, 10% of the funding would be provided as a grant, with the remaining 90% available as a 0% interest loan • We expect to receive a final funding determination in September. Deer Cull • I have previously talked with Merdian Township, Sheriff’s Office, Department of Natural Resources and the United States Department of Agriculture about cull options and logistics. • The City of Grand Haven recently conducted a cull and had positive feedback about a private contractor they used. • I recently met with the private contractor to discuss options. I plan to share my notes with the City of the Village of Douglas to see if they wish to partner on this. • I will be working to get a formal proposal and plan from the contractor and review at a future workshop. Comprehensive (Master) Planning • The Planning Commission recently reviewed and had a robust discussion on three draft chapters of the comprehensive plan. • If you would like to follow along, the drafts can be viewed in their last packet: https://www.saugatuckcity.com/uploads/1/3/3/9/133977444/pc_packet_7.16.26.p df Environmental Grant • The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has awarded a $1 million Brownfield Redevelopment Grant to Allegan County for the 640 Water Street project.
