About this work
Given the role of nutrition in health and well-being, socioeconomic disparities, and healthcare spending, the time has come to implement, evaluate, and scale Food is Medicine (FIM) to leverage food’s role in health care and public health. A remarkable national acceleration of FIM builds on public and clinician awareness of the central role of food in well-being; the accelerating consumer demand for, and corresponding industry shifts toward, healthier foods; the continuing rise in healthcare spending for preventable diet-related conditions; and the growing recognition that individual consumers cannot be solely responsible for overcoming the current challenges of the food system. This project aims to advance the health…
Why this matters
Produce prescriptions are projected to prevent about 126,000 cardiovascular events over ten years among U.S. adults with diabetes and food insecurity. Work like this tests how to deliver them where people already are, so the evidence can reach scale.
Related people, publications, and projects, surfaced automatically.
The site’s taxonomy links every project to the researchers, evidence, and work it connects to. Nothing here is hand-curated; it’s the content graph doing the work.
Connections are drawn from shared intervention types and populations of interest, the same tagging a non-technical editor maintains from a single screen in the CMS.
