Accessibility

Our commitment to an accessible site.

Food is medicine evidence only matters if the people who need it can reach it. This page explains what we aim for and how to reach us if something falls short.

Our standard

What we aim for.

Our conformance aim is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, consistent with Tufts University’s digital accessibility standards (access.tufts.edu/digital-web-accessibility).

This working site is built to WCAG 2.2, Level AA: the current W3C Recommendation and a superset of the 2.1 AA baseline above. In practice that means every success criterion in 2.1 AA is met, plus the additional criteria WCAG 2.2 added.

What that means in practice

  • Every page can be operated by keyboard alone, with no mouse required.
  • Headings, landmarks, labels, and alt text are structured for screen readers, not just for sighted browsing.
  • Text and interface colors meet WCAG contrast minimums against their backgrounds.
  • Motion and animation honor a visitor’s reduced-motion preference, showing the finished page instead.
  • Layout, type, and touch targets adapt from a phone screen to a desktop monitor.

We test this site against these standards as it is built and updated. This page describes an ongoing commitment, not a completed, formal third-party audit.
