Sage Foundation Awards $15,000 Grant to Tecumseh DDA
Tecumseh, MI – May 12, 2025 – The Sage Foundation has awarded a $15,000 grant to Tecumseh’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to support the 2025 installation of Art Trail Tecumseh, the city’s annual public art program. This long-standing initiative brings dynamic, rotating public art to Downtown Tecumseh in partnership with the Midwest Sculpture Initiative (MSI) and Flatlanders Sculpture Supply and Art Galleries.
This year’s Art Trail features more than 20 works, including sculptures, murals, and an interactive art and music park. Eleven new “traveling” sculptures will be installed on May 20, weather permitting. An all-volunteer committee of local artists and community leaders selected this year’s featured pieces, curating a collection with a variety of materials, scales, colors, and artistic styles.
“Financial support from the Sage Foundation is vital to the ongoing success of Tecumseh’s Art Trail,” said Kelly Jo Gilmore, Economic Development Director for the City of Tecumseh. “This year’s grant enables us to continue growing our public art program, which helps energize our public spaces and enrich the experience for residents and visitors alike.”
The 2025 Art Trail builds on the City’s commitment to creative placemaking. New installations will include QR codes for visitors to learn more about each piece. In addition, the City is partnering with LunaTech 3D to create a digital pathway and interactive trail map to guide users through the collection. A refreshed Art Trail webpage will also provide visitors with details about the artists, artwork, and locations across the city.
The 2025 Art Trail is supported by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC), the Sage Foundation, Tecumseh’s Downtown Development Authority, and the City of Tecumseh.
