NOW OPEN - NW Downtown Parking Lot to Close for Repaving in September 2025
Beginning in SEPTEMBER 2025, the northwest downtown parking lot—located behind Martin’s Home Center, Basil Boys, City Diner, and other downtown businesses—will be temporarily closed for a full repaving project. Last resurfaced in 2002, the lot has exceeded its expected lifespan and is due for necessary improvements.
This project is part of the City of Tecumseh’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving public infrastructure. The Downtown Development Authority (DDA), in partnership with the City, has prioritized downtown parking lot upgrades as part of the 2021–2026 Capital Improvement Plan.
Work is expected to begin the week of September 2 and may take up to four weeks to complete. During this time, the lot will be fully closed to all traffic (exceptions for delivery trucks and garbage removal).
- September 2-12: Lot closed. DPW tear out, grading.
- September 22: Lot opens.
Weekly status updates will be shared with property owners and businesses via email throughout the duration of the project. The City and DDA thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to improve downtown Tecumseh for all who live, work, and visit here.
