Accessibility Statement

The Chesapeake Bay Trust is committed to making our digital presence accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. The redesign targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA, which includes WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

Accessibility Improvements

A July 2026 automated axe sample of the current home, grants, and contact pages found contrast and unlabeled-link issues. Phase 1 expands the evidence with keyboard, screen-reader, forms, headings, document, and third-party-embed testing.

Color Contrast

Sample finding: Gold and teal text or controls failed automated contrast checks on the sampled pages.

Redesign response: Tested color tokens keep text and actionable elements at or above the applicable contrast minimums.

Link Names

Sample finding: Some icon and social links did not expose an accessible name.

Redesign response: Every owner-controlled link and control receives a visible or programmatic name.

Third-Party Map

Boundary: The exact Trust-managed ArcGIS experience remains third-party content and is outside the conformance claim for owner-controlled pages.

Redesign response: The map is scanned and disclosed separately. The page adds a direct open-map link and an owner-controlled keyboard-accessible project index; Phase 1 documents remaining vendor limitations.
